This Baked Cheesy Dumpling Casserole is a comforting, cheesy dish that combines tender dumplings with a rich, creamy sauce, perfect for a hearty family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded (optional)
  • 1 cup cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Stir in milk and melted butter until just combined to form the dumpling dough.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine cooked chicken, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, half of the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, green onions, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour the chicken mixture into a greased casserole dish.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling dough evenly over the top of the chicken mixture.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the dumplings.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, omit the chicken and add sautéed mushrooms or mixed vegetables for extra flavor and texture.
