Recipe for Chinese Meat Dumplings

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 medium onion, grated
  • 1 medium carrots, grated
  • 2 stalks green onion or chives, chopped
  • 3 Chinese mushrooms, rehydrated, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, grates
  • 1 thumb sized ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon light soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 pack dumpling wrappers

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, onion, carrots, mushrooms, green onion, garlic, ginger, salt, pepper, sesame oil, soy sauce, and oyster sauce. Mix well to combine and mix further until the gelatin of the pork has slightly melted and the mixture has become sticky. 
  2. Place a wonton wrapper in the palm of your hand. Spoon a small amount of the filling into the center of the wrapper.
  3. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water. Fold the wrapper in half, and then crimple the sides together. Press the edges together to seal.
  4. Repeat steps 2-3 to make the remaining dumplings.
  5. If you are frying the dumplings, heat some oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the dumplings in batches until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. If you are boiling the dumplings, bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the dumplings and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until cooked through.
  7. Serve the dumplings immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
