  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon (for swirl)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, cream cheese, and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and 3 tbsp cinnamon.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  6. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and 1 tbsp cinnamon for the cinnamon swirl.
  7. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the dough.
  9. Carefully roll the dough into a log and slice into 1-inch thick cookies.
  10. Place cookies on prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
  11. Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  12. Allow cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
  13. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with milk until smooth and drizzle over cooled cookies.

Notes

For an extra indulgent touch, add chopped pecans to the cinnamon sugar swirl or serve cookies slightly warmed with a dollop of whipped cream.
