Cinnamon Sugar Bagels

Delightful homemade cinnamon sugar bagels with a crispy exterior and soft, sweet interior, perfect for breakfast or a cozy snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F)
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 egg white, beaten (for egg wash)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix bread flour, ¼ cup sugar, salt, and 1 tbsp ground cinnamon in a separate bowl.
  3. Gradually add dry ingredients to the yeast mixture and knead until a smooth dough forms, about 10 minutes.
  4. Place dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide into 8 equal pieces. Shape each into a ball and poke a hole through the center to form bagels.
  6. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
  7. Boil bagels in batches for 1 minute on each side, then remove and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Mix beaten egg white with the remaining cinnamon and sugar topping, then brush over each bagel.
  9. Bake bagels for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  10. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding a glaze of cream cheese mixed with honey and cinnamon when serving.
