Comforting homemade Cottage Cheese Tots

Cottage Cheese Tots are a healthy, delicious twist on classic tater tots, combining creamy cottage cheese and grated potatoes for a baked, crispy snack or side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 2 cups grated potatoes, drained
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooking spray or oil for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet with cooking spray or oil.
  2. In a large bowl, combine grated potatoes, cottage cheese, shredded cheddar, green onions, flour, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  3. Using your hands or a small scoop, form the mixture into small tot-sized cylinders or balls.
  4. Place the tots evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until tots are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  6. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra crispiness, broil the tots for 2-3 minutes after baking, watching closely to prevent burning.
