Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (for garlic butter topping)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and 1 tablespoon sugar in warm milk; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt.
  3. Add softened butter, egg, and yeast mixture to the flour mixture; mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down dough and divide into 12 equal pieces; shape each into a ball.
  7. Place rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking pan close together.
  8. Cover and let rise for another 30-40 minutes until puffy.
  9. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  10. Bake rolls for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
  11. While rolls bake, mix melted butter with minced garlic and parsley.
  12. Remove rolls from oven and brush immediately with garlic butter mixture.
  13. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For an extra cheesy twist, sprinkle shredded Parmesan over the garlic butter before baking or add a pinch of Italian seasoning to the dough.
