This classic Gordon Ramsay Beef Stroganoff features tender strips of beef cooked in a creamy mushroom sauce, perfect for a comforting and elegant dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 400g beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 200g chestnut mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 150ml beef stock
  • 100ml sour cream
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Cooked egg noodles or rice, to serve

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent.
  2. Add the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Increase the heat to high, add the sliced beef sirloin, and quickly sear until browned on all sides. Remove the beef and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add the sliced mushrooms and cook until golden and any moisture has evaporated.
  5. Stir in the Dijon mustard and cook for 1 minute.
  6. Pour in the beef stock and Worcestershire sauce, bringing the mixture to a simmer to reduce slightly.
  7. Lower the heat and return the beef to the pan. Stir in the sour cream and heat gently without boiling.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Serve the stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.

Notes

For extra richness, add a splash of white wine before adding the beef stock, and serve with crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
