Ground Beef Stroganoff is a creamy and comforting dish featuring tender ground beef and mushrooms cooked in a rich sour cream sauce, perfect for a hearty dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
  • Egg noodles or rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent, about 3 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic and sliced mushrooms to the skillet; cook until mushrooms are tender and browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the beef mixture and stir well to coat. Cook for 1-2 minutes to remove raw flour taste.
  5. Gradually pour in beef broth while stirring, then add Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until it thickens slightly, about 3-5 minutes.
  6. Remove skillet from heat and stir in sour cream until well combined. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  7. Serve stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For an extra creamy texture, use full-fat sour cream, and serve with buttered egg noodles or steamed rice for best results.
