Ground Turkey Pasta

A healthy and flavorful Ground Turkey Pasta dish that combines lean protein with tender pasta in a savory tomato sauce, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

  • 8 oz pasta (penne or rotini)
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add ground turkey to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes.
  5. Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes to let flavors combine.
  6. Toss the cooked pasta into the skillet with the turkey sauce. Mix well to combine and heat through.
  7. Serve topped with grated Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or serve with a side of garlic bread for a complete meal.
