Homemade hamburger steaks in creamy dill sauce

Juicy hamburger steaks smothered in a rich and creamy dill sauce, perfect for a comforting and delicious dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized hamburger steaks.
  3. Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the hamburger steaks for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
  4. Remove the steaks from skillet and set aside, tented with foil to keep warm.
  5. In the same skillet, add beef broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom.
  6. Lower the heat and stir in sour cream, Dijon mustard, and fresh dill. Simmer gently until sauce thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet and coat with the creamy dill sauce. Heat through for 1-2 minutes.
  8. Serve the hamburger steaks topped with the creamy dill sauce. Enjoy!

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt or serve with steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes.
