Spinach and Feta Puff Pastry Twists

Delightfully flaky puff pastry twists filled with a savory blend of spinach and feta cheese, perfect as a snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat; add garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Add chopped spinach, cook until wilted, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
  4. In a bowl, combine cooked spinach, feta, Parmesan, salt, and pepper.
  5. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle.
  6. Spread the spinach and feta mixture evenly over half of the puff pastry.
  7. Fold the other half over the filling and gently press to seal.
  8. Cut the folded pastry into strips about 1 inch wide.
  9. Twist each strip several times and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  10. Brush each twist with beaten egg to achieve a golden finish.
  11. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
  12. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, sprinkle sesame seeds or nigella seeds on top before baking, and serve warm with a side of tzatziki sauce.
